Welcome back to another great year at Newton School! PTO has returned strong with a lot of get up and go for this coming year with several returning and new volunteers! All families should have received fundraiser fliers home in back packs on or just after Sept 20th. The money raised from this fundraiser will support our efforts to ensure that all students are able to go on field trips, something that we feel is important for our school. Without the fundraising there is little to no money in the school budget for such exciting adventures for our children. We are selling Butter Braid Pastries, Lyman Orchard Pies and locally made (from Emerson Farm) Wreaths. If your child has not received the packet, don't hesitate to contact myself or your child's teacher to make sure you can get one. Please return these forms no later than OCT 5th. Because these items arrive frozen and they are too bulky to be sent home with students they will need to be picked up, which we have set up for Nov 21st, during our annual Fall Festival! As always, if you prefer to not purchase something, but would like to donate a monetary contribution, that is welcome too!
October 9, 10, & 11 we are hosting our fall Scholastic Bookfair! This will be in addition to a couple events happening at school that week. There will be opportunities for children to purchase books during school if you are unable to come and shop during the afternoon hours. Visit the book fair website to see hours, what will be available or to shop online http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/newtonschool. Generally speaking, there will be shopping hours those 3 days from 3-6pm, with extended shopping until 7pm on Friday night. If you are interested in helping work at the book fair, or set-up or clean up, please contact Erica Burns 413-230-4458.
Our Next meeting will be Oct 1st @ 6pm in the library. Children are welcome at meeting as there will be childcare available thanks to the National Honor Society at GHS.
