PTO Meeting
November 5, 2013
Meeting Minutes
Attendance: Melodie Goodwin, Erica Burns, Jennifer Perreault, Lindsay Siano, Jennifer Vernon, Jami Witherell,
McKenzie Girard, Joan McKelvey, Virginia Crowl, Estelle Cade, Charity Day, Heather Blais
1. Budget - The 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders are going to UMASS for a basketball game
on November 12th. The PTO is paying $470.00 for the buses. The first grade is
going to Stone Soup at The Academy Of Music November 18th. The PTO is paying for
this field trip. Due to the increase of first graders this will cost an extra
$96.00. The school received an anonymous donation in the sum of $140.00.
Jennifer thought we could use that towards the increased cost of the Stone Soup
field trip and put the rest towards the buses for UMASS. All in attendance
thought this was a good idea, voted and approved.
Will also pay outstanding bill for the art fund.
2. Fall Festival - In need of volunteers to run games and to sort / hand out
fundraiser. Still undecided about a meal. Erica wondered about a potluck style
meal where people would bring dishes they made at home. Another festival meeting
is planned for Tuesday, November 12 at 6pm at Jennifer Vernon's house. We talked about a food
drive during the festival but are now planning on doing it for the homeless
families. Mel said she would figure out what food and where to bring it for our
local families.
3. Fundraisers - Everyone is still liking the Nature's Vision fundraiser for
spring. Erica brought up umbrellas with our logo on them but all in attendance
thought they were too expensive. Was thinking of adding another fundraiser like
Kringle Candle, or Original Works along with Nature's Vision but don't want to
overload parents. Definitely want to try a Friendly's fundraiser, Movie
fundraiser and a Parents night out fundraiser.
4. Signage - Erica brought the email from the sign company. Not sure what size we
need but want to work at this as a long term goal. Maybe open a separate savings
account just for the sign and want to budget $1800-$2000 for it. Everyone in
attendance thought this was a good idea for a long term goal, voted and
approved.
5. Coins For Coats - Jennifer Vernon volunteered to email the PTO group and be in
charge of this activity. Thinking sometime in February. Maybe Wednesday
to Wednesday February 5th trough the 12th. Will wait for confirmation from
Mel.
6. Charity Day from the Franklin County Regional Housing and Redevelopment
Authority came to speak about the homeless families in
Greenfield. Talked about setting up
a separate committee for those who want to be involved. Charity was going to
leave volunteer sign up sheets with Mel. If anyone would like to contact Charity
you can do so by calling 413-863-9781 x151 or [email protected] to sign up to
assist.
7. The next PTO meeting will be Tuesday, December 3rd at 6pm in the library.
